Wood County Schools will begin distribution of thousands of student iPads and accessories next week in preparation for the start of the 2020-21 school year.

Wood Schools iPad distribution begins Monday

PARKERSBURG – Wood County Schools will begin distributing thousands of student iPads to families next week in preparation of the 2020-21 school year.

Students return to classes Sept. 8 on a staggered schedule, which includes instruction five days a week. Students attend on campus two (2) days per week and engage in learning off campus three (3) days per week.  To help equip them for the blended learning model, every student in grades K-12 is being given an iPad to use for the school year.

The tablets will be pre-configured for individual students and will come with a case for grades K-8 and a keyboard case for grades 9-12. The iPad will be bundled with a charger and a label with the individual student’s ID number, login information and passwords for Schoology, email, Apple ID and Clever.

Beginning Monday, distribution areas will be set up outside every school, allowing parents to sign for and pick up student iPads. The distribution will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with pickups available Monday and Wednesday for students whose last names begin with the letters A-K, and on Tuesday and Thursday for those with last names of L-Z.

Parents and students are asked to wear masks and maintain social distance when possible while picking up a tablet. No visitors will be allowed in the buildings. If a parent cannot pick up an iPad during the provided times and dates, they may contact the school directly to arrange a pick up time.

To receive an iPad, both a student and a parent/guardian must sign an Acceptable Use Policy which governs use of the technology. Students do not have to be present to pick up the iPad if their parent/guardian brings the AUP signed by the student. The AUP must also be signed by someone on the student’s emergency contact list before the iPad is provided. The policy for grades k-2 can be found at https://5il.co/hx3i and the policy for grades 3-12 can be found at https://5il.co/hx3h
