Wood BOE meets Tuesday

PARKERSBURG - The Wood County Board of Education will meet Tuesday (Sept. 8) in regular session .

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Wood County Schools Central Office on the corner of 13th and Plum streets in Parkersburg. The meeting is open to the public, though masks are required and social distancing will be maintained.

The meeting also will be broadcast online  through Zoom.

Tuesday is the first day of school for Wood County Schools students, and Superintendent Will Hosaflook will give the board an update on the day and re-entry plans for the remainder of the week.

Hosaflook also will talk about the West Virginia Department of Education’s COVID-19 mapping and will review work completed the past two weeks by the Wood County Schools administrators, teachers and staff.

In other business, the board will be asked to vote on the district’s extra duty pay scale and the superintendent’s goals for the 2020-21 school year. 

The board also will vote on the expulsion of two students for violation of the Safe Schools Act. Names and details are not given in discipline cases due to laws concerning student confidentiality.
