Wood BOE meets Tuesday

PARKERSBURG - The Wood County Board of Education will meet Tuesday (Oct. 27) to discuss the district’s school re-entry plan and approve a 10-year facilities plan.

The board meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Jefferson Elementary Center auditorium at 1103 Plum Street in Parkersburg. The meeting is open to the public, though social distancing will be maintained and masks are required. The meeting also will be broadcast online through Zoom.

Those wishing to address the school board during public comment must do so in person.

The board will be asked to approve the Wood County Schools 2020-30 Comprehensive Education Facilities Plan, or CEFP. The document outlines construction of new schools, school closures, and major maintenance and improvement projects to take place during the next 10 years.

The board also will receive and update on and discuss the Wood County Schools re-entry plan. Students currently are on a blended model where they receive on-campus instruction two days a week and remote learning three days a week. The school board will be asked to determine whether schools will remain with the blended model or increase the number of on-campus learning days.
