Wood Schools opens prek/kindergarten registration next month
PARKERSBURG — Wood County Schools pre-kindergarten registration for the 2021-22 school year begins Feb. 8, with kindergarten registration beginning Feb. 22.
Pre-kindergarten classes are free of charge and are open to students who are 4 years old before July 1, 2021. Registration can be completed at Blennerhassett, Criss, Fairplains, Franklin, Gihon, Greenmont, Jefferson, Kanawha, Lubeck, Madison, Martin, Mineral Wells, Neale, Vienna and Williamstown elementary schools.
In addition to the school-based programs, collaborative programs are available at A Little People Place, Joyful Sound and Precious Angels, all in Parkersburg.
Pre-kindergarten registration will run from Feb. 8-12.
Parents should bring a certified birth certificate, record of age-appropriate immunizations, proof of a Well-Child Exam, proof of a dental exam and a Social Security card to register. Pre-kindergarten classes are 6 hours and 15 minutes per day, four days a week, Monday through Thursday. Placement is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Kindergarten registration will be held Feb. 22-26. A child must be 5 years old before July 1, 2021. If a child has been enrolled in a Wood County Schools Pre-K class, parents need to bring a record of age-appropriate immunizations and proof of residence to register.
If a child has not been enrolled in a Wood County Schools Pre-K class, parents also need to bring a certified birth certificate, proof of a Well-Child Exam, proof of a dental exam, and a Social Security card.
