Now Available: Explore the rich history of Wood County Schools through New Era School: A dialogue with Esther Carroll A one-room school building located on the Mineral Wells Elementary School campus serves as a connection to our past. This building, known as New Era school, has been transformed into a museum that showcases the educational community of the nineteenth century. Within the museum, there is an extensive collection of carefully selected materials that chronicle the history of schools in Wood County. The museum is accessible to the general public, offering both individual and group tours, including school trips. In the latest episode of the WCS Voices Podcast, Esther Carroll, a retired library media specialist from Wood County Schools, shares her insights. Ms. Carroll oversees the museum's operations and is responsible for curating historical primary sources and various media. Field Day T-shirt order forms are coming home today. The picture shows the grade level shirts that have been chosen for this year. Families are welcome to purchase a shirt for their child's grade level as well. Please return the forms to your child's teacher no later than Monday, May 1st with the money for the shirts. There will 100's of pieces of artwork created by our students in grades Pre-Kindergarten to Fifth Grade. Music will be provided by the Artsbridge String Quartet. Refreshments are being provided by Duane Nutt's Baking and Pastry class from PSHS. Everyone is Welcome.

Families, If your student is attending Franklin out-of-district, and you did not receive an application for next year this week, please call the school. Applications must be received prior to May 1. We are not accepting out-of-district KG students at this time.

Spring Break Food Boxes have arrived. You may pick them up at school anytime today through Thursday (7:30-3:30). Just buzz at the main door and we will get the box to you! These boxes had to be pre-ordered.

Greetings parents and guardians: While working through a glitch in our all-call system, Wood County Schools realized that our morning, elementary school attendance calls to parents informing of a student absence did not go out. We want you to know that this occurred and that the problem has been corrected. Absence calls will continue as normal on Monday.

This is Ms. Cumpston. I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful afternoon! I have a couple of Spring safety and procedure reminders. If you are driving and picking your child up, you need to go through the parent pick-up line. We have a handful of people parking on Division St. Extension, horseshoe, or in the back gravel parking lot. Street parking is not permitted by the city. Parking in the gravel lot or horseshoe is against school policy. These areas are to be used by buses, staff, and parents of special education students only. For all of you who follow the rules and wait in the lines, thank you! You are helping us to keep all children safe!
