All Wood County Schools after-school and evening activities will be CANCELLED tonight (Tuesday, April 2, 2024) due to incoming inclement weather. Schools will dismiss at their normal times today.

All after school activities at Blennerhassett Middle School are being cancelled for this evening (Tuesday, April 2nd). This includes track, softball, and talent show practice, as well as tutoring.

After School Tutoring for today (Tuesday, April 2nd) is cancelled due to possible weather threats.

Please make sure your child charges their iPad this evening. All 8th grade students will be taking the Golden Horseshoe Test tomorrow (Wednesday). Thank you for your help with this.

With the Springlike weather coming our way, I wanted to remind students and parents about our Blennerhassett Middle School dress code expectations. Tank tops, crop tops, short shorts (where the pockets are longer than the shorts) or shorts/jeans with excessive holes in them are not permitted. Thank you for helping to ensure your child comes to school dressed appropriately each day.

Due to an internet outage this morning, Blennerhassett Middle School students will take the Writing GSA test tomorrow (Wednesday). Please make sure your child brings their iPad fully charged to school tomorrow.

Blennerhassett Middle School students will take the Writing GSA beginning tomorrow (Tuesday). Please make sure your child gets a good nights sleep, eats breakfast, and chargers his/her iPad before coming to school tomorrow. The remainder of the GSA tests will be given in May.

Calendar update: In order to account for missed school days due to inclement weather, students will now attend school on May 31 as well as June 3 and 4. Preschool will attend May 28 and 29. For staff, June 5 will be a curriculum development day (students do not attend) and June 6 will be a day to prepare for the end of the school year (students do not attend).

IMPORTANT UPDATE: The Wood County Board of Education will meet in special session Monday, Feb. 12, 2024, to conduct candidate interviews and appoint an interim board member to a vacant seat. The board has consulted with the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office and the Wood County Clerk’s Office and has been advised, due to election cycle deadlines, a selection must be made by February 12, 2024.
The online application period for those interested in applying for the interim position will close at 5 p.m. on Monday, February 12. The board meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. to announce the candidates and interviews will begin at 6:00 p.m. An appointment announcement will follow the completion of the interviews on February 12.
Those submitting an application by Sunday, February 11, will be informed of their interview time before 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 12. Applicants submitting applications on Monday, February 12, will be contacted as applications are received throughout the day to have interviews arranged for that evening.

Wood County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Monday, January 22, 2024.

Wood County Schools will be closed on Friday, January 19, 2024 due to inclement weather.

Open enrollment starts today. Complete the form at woodcountyschoolswv.com/enrollment. Need some assistance or do not have access to the form? Visit your school office. The central office, at 1210 13th St. in Parkersburg, is another option for assistance with completing the form.

Open Enrollment begins at noon today (Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024). If you would like your child to attend a school outside of your current attendance zone, you must complete the online enrollment form. The link opens at noon today.
