Grizzly Attendance Letters are prepared to go out for three and five day unexcused absences . Wood County Schools' Student Services will be following up with these parents as their child has been excessively absent. It is in a parent's best interests to correct any attendance issues before WCS Student Services follows up. In total, we have over 40 letters going home, which is a high percentage of our homes. Grizzlies! There will be a PTA meeting tomorrow night (February 20) beginning at 6:30pm in our school's library. All parents and staff are welcome to attend. The PTA meetings usually last about 30 minutes.

Grizzlies! Valentine's parties have finally arrived! Our Prek party begins at 1:40pm, while our KG-5 parties begin at 2:00 pm. Parents/visitors will have to wait until 2:00 to enter (excluding one homeroom parent for each class that may enter ten minutes before the parties start). We will have tables out front of our main entrance for visitors to sign in and get a visitor's badge. FRIDAY'S COOK'S CHOICE LUNCH WILL BE CHICKEN NUGGETS, TOMATOES OR SALAD, POTATO SMILES, AND ORANGES..

IMPORTANT UPDATE: The Wood County Board of Education will meet in special session Monday, Feb. 12, 2024, to conduct candidate interviews and appoint an interim board member to a vacant seat. The board has consulted with the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office and the Wood County Clerk’s Office and has been advised, due to election cycle deadlines, a selection must be made by February 12, 2024. The online application period for those interested in applying for the interim position will close at 5 p.m. on Monday, February 12. The board meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. to announce the candidates and interviews will begin at 6:00 p.m. An appointment announcement will follow the completion of the interviews on February 12. Those submitting an application by Sunday, February 11, will be informed of their interview time before 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 12. Applicants submitting applications on Monday, February 12, will be contacted as applications are received throughout the day to have interviews arranged for that evening.

Grizzlies! PTA skating party February 6 beginning at 6pm at Skate Country. Free admission, but we are taking donations to offset the purchase of new blinds for all of our school’s windows. The new blinds will actually work and will provide a safer environment for our students- not to mention look better. Home basketball game on February 7 beginning at 5:45 pm versus Mineral Wells. A reminder for basketball spectators to be civil and act appropriately.

Good Afternoon Grizzlies! As we get ready to take on the rest of the year, we are going to make sure we recognize some of our awesome students for the things they do. As we start Monday, we will be making more of an effort as a staff to reward students with PAWS for their efforts. A reminder for parents to please pull up when dropping off students out front. Grizzly Nation! We are going to celebrate the 100th Day Of School "OLD SCHOOL STYLE"!!!!! Grab your pearls, old wigs, gray hair spray, and way outdated clothing styles as you dress up on Wednesday, February 7th as a 100 year old Greenmont Grizzly! Every grade level is encouraged to have its students dress up and have some fun on this 100th day of the 2023-24 school year.

Grizzlies! Our Second Nine Weeks Awards Assembly is Thursday morning beginning at 8:30am. Parents are welcome to attend and must provide ID upon signing in at our front office. Our Second Nine Weeks Reward Activity is Thursday afternoon and we ask that students please wear socks for this activity.

Due to icy road conditions and frigid temperatures, Wood County Schools will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, January 17, 2024.

Open enrollment starts today. Complete the form at woodcountyschoolswv.com/enrollment. Need some assistance or do not have access to the form? Visit your school office. The central office, at 1210 13th St. in Parkersburg, is another option for assistance with completing the form.

Open Enrollment begins at noon today (Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024). If you would like your child to attend a school outside of your current attendance zone, you must complete the online enrollment form. The link opens at noon today.

Grizzlies, A reminder that there will not be school Monday, January 15, 2023 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. WCS Open Enrollment begins at noon on Tuesday, January 16. In-district households don’t have to do anything. All out-of-district households must apply for the 2024-2025 school year beginning at noon by visiting www.woodcountyschoolswv.com (this is NOT for PRE-K). Lastly, the weather this week will be much colder and parents must be sure their children dress warm.. We suggest having a sweat shirt/hoodie to wear inside the building each day as the temperatures drop this week as well as a winter coat/hat/gloves as we may be outside for brain breaks or recess. Greetings Grizzlies! Wood County Schools recently sent a message regarding “Open Enrollment” for next school year. If you are in district, you don’t have to do anything. If you are out of district, on January 16, 2024 beginning at 12:00pm, you must go online to woodcountyschoolswv.com and apply for out of district status for the 2024-2025 school year (excludes prek) regardless of how long you’ve been at Greenmont. Our school’s secretary will have an IPad to use on 1/16/24 at 12:00pm if you need help. This process is new and is in a first-come, first-served basis. Good Afternoon Greenmont! As we come back to school Friday, January 5, 2024 the breakfast will be sausage pancakes and the lunch will be spaghetti and meatballs. Our school was closed today due to a water line break just outside our building. The water line break did not affect anything in our building and has now been repaired. We are thankful of the work of our two custodians (Chris and Clark), WCS maintenance personnel and City of Vienna Public Works personnel as they worked together to locate and repair the leak.
