
Wood County Schools: Distribution of Wi-Fi hotspots to qualifying families will end at 3 p.m. April 15. Information on end-of-year collection of hotspots will be released in the coming weeks. All hotspots must be returned by the end of the 2021-22 school year.

HMS Student Council is holding an Easter Palooza Dance Friday April 8, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Tickets must be purchased in advance for $3.00 before school or during activity period. No tickets will be sold at the door.

The HMS LSIC will hold two community meetings in April to give our stakeholders a chance to discuss our school's academic performance and to invite any ideas and suggestions for improvement. The first meeting is scheduled for April 7, 2022 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the HMS Gym. The second meeting is scheduled for April 12, 2022 from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM in the HMS Gym.

NEW LOCATION! The Wood County Schools' Social Studies Fair on Saturday, February 19th, will now take place at Williamstown High School. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. Judging is from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Public viewing begins at 5:00 p.m. Awards will begin at 6:00 p.m.

Based upon our internet access survey this past September, Wood County Schools has secured Wi-Fi hotspots for those who have a need and have no or unreliable internet. If you have a child who attends any Wood County Schools’ high school or middle school, you may pick up a Wi-Fi hotspot at our Management Information Systems building located adjacent to Parkersburg South High School. The address is 1600 Beverly Street. A map can be found on the Wood County Schools’ website. Pickup dates are tomorrow, Friday and Monday from eight to four. It is not necessary to call ahead. Hotspots for elementary students, who have a need and have no or unreliable internet, will be available soon. Information will be forthcoming.

Due to inclement weather, the county social studies fair has been rescheduled to Saturday, February 19.


Due to impending weather, The Middle School Spelling Bee has been postponed. It has been rescheduled to Tuesday, February 8th at 6:00 p.m. at Blennerhassett Auditorium.

Congratulations to our Girls Cross Country Team who won the county championship. Anthony Justice placed 6th overall, but we had seven runners finish in the top twenty and our pack running held off the competition for the win.

Free after school tutoring is available for any HMS student every Monday through Thursday from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Three HMS teachers are available every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday when school is in session. Students may simply report to one of the tutoring rooms at the end of the day. Parents and guardians may also call the school at 304-420-9547 to let us know that you want your child to stay after school for tutoring.

HMS is pleased to announce that after school tutoring for any student will begin next Monday, September 27. Three HMS teachers will be available Monday through Thursday from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM to assist any student who wishes additional help with school work. Parents and guardians are invited to call the school at 304-420-9547 as well to let us know if you wish your student to stay after school for additional help.
