*Student Test Scores* In spring 2023, students in Grades 3 through 8 took the General Summative Assessment and students in Grade 11 took the SAT School Day assessment. On Tuesday, September 12, students will receive a printed copy of their individual student score report which will contain information regarding each student's performance on the tested areas. To further assist parents/guardians in understanding their child's performance on the WVGSA or the SAT School Day, the West Virginia Department of Education is providing an individual video score report for each student in addition to the printed report.. A link to your child's individual video score report will be sent to your child's K12 student email address on September 12th. Please work with your student to access the link in the email. When you click on the link, you will be taken to a site where you will need to enter your child's date of birth to access the video report. Resources are also available at that site to help your student. If you need assistance in locating the video score report link, or if you do not know your child's K12 email address or password, you may contact your child's school, or contact Cathy Grewe at the Wood County Schools Board Office at 304-420-9663 Extension 122.

Good evening. This is Mr. Echard Principal of Van Devender Middle School. We had a great first day of school. Students were able to learn their schedules and understand the basic routines of the school. This reminded me that I forgot to send out clarification on drop off and pick up times, so I wanted to clear that up. When dropping students off in the morning, you will need to use the left lane when entering the parking lot. You will drive up to the building to drop your student off and they will then enter the building through the doors by the gym. The right lane is our bus lane and we need to keep it clear at all times. The final bell rings at 3:15pm. Students walking home will exit the building through the front doors by the main office. Students being picked up by parents will exit the building through the gym doors. They will walk down the track and can be picked up in the Lincoln Parking lot which is located to the right when you enter Vandy’s parking lot. All students riding buses will report to the gym. They will sit in the bleachers until the bus arrives. The final late bus generally arrives at Vandy around 4:00pm. Thank you for assisting us in making drop off and pick up time run a bit smoother. Please contact the school with questions. I am looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow. Always remember to Be Kind, Work Hard and Represent.
