Field Trips and Background Checks
For more information, check the news section on our school web page or the Wood County Schools site.
Policy 1210
When a parent/legal guardian or any other visitor to school grounds during the school day will or may work with students, in any capacity, without being observed by a Wood County Schools employee, or move through the school without being accompanied by a Wood County Schools employee, or attend and/or chaperone a school-sponsored field trip of any kind, that person must have previously completed a criminal background check. This background check will be the same as the background check required for all Wood County Schools employees. If a parent is going to attend a field trip with the students, even if they are not chaperoning, they must have a completed background check.
In an effort to follow the policy, Williamstown Elementary will have the following procedures in place: Teachers will collect chaperones/guests information when preparing for trips. The office will then verify background checks and provide teachers with a list of approved chaperones/guests. Should a parent show up for the trip and not be on the approved list, the parent will be asked to sign their child out for the day. The parent and child can then enjoy the field trip as a family outing, separate from the class.

Information about the NED Show and a yo-yo ordering form should be coming home today. This is not a fundraising event. The show is provided to the school at no cost with the agreement that we will sell the yo-yo's. Yo-yos will not be available until Friday. I'm still looking for volunteers to sell the yo-yo's in the cafeteria from 7:30 AM-8:30 AM. I have volunteers for Monday, March 17, but have not filled any other slot. If you can help out, please email me or send me a message on ROOMS. You will need to have a background check.

The driver will be brining the elementary and high school students on the same run.

KG registration begins on Monday, March 3. Due to decreased enrollment, Williamstown Elementary will only have three KG classes next year. Please stop in this week and get your student enrolled. Current WES PK students do need to enroll. If you are hoping to attend WES out-of-district, you need to enroll for KG at your home school. Open enrollment will take place later in the Spring.
Clarification on my information....
Enrollment for current WES PK students does not require the entire enrollment packet. Parents need to complete the enrollment sheet and show 3 proofs of residency. If you are currently attending WES PK and do not live in our district, you will need to complete this registration process at your home school. You may then apply to attend WES during open-enrollment. If you have questions, just call the school.

Check out our Scentsy Fundraiser! This is a school fundraising event and the proceeds will go towards the purchase of a sound system for the gym.
