Here are some additional pictures from the eighth-grade outdoor classroom day!
On June 3rd, the eighth-grade students got to experience an outdoor educational day. Students had the opportunity to interact with six different presenters and rotate between seven educational stations. While visiting each station, students were able to view and handle different equipment, hold various turtles, and participate in water and soil testing. Students were encouraged to ask questions and were able to obtain a better understanding of the various fields presented. We want to thank John Casto and his colleagues with WV Natural Resources Police, Riley Keller with WV DNR, Chris Yeager with Wayne National Forest, Sarah Nisewarner, Lane Burton and colleagues from U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services on Waverly Road, and JJ Barrett from WVU Extension Office for providing our students with this wonderful opportunity. We also want to thank Three Rivers Avian Center for the educational opportunity and showing the students some amazing birds!
As we close out the 2024/2025 school year, do not forget about the immunization requirements for your child. State law and rules require that all children entering school in West Virginia in grades 7 and 12 must show proof of immunization against diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, and meningococcal disease. Be sure to turn in your completed shot records to Nurse Danielle. Please contact Nurse Danielle if you have any questions.

Friendly reminder to make sure all medication is picked up from Nurse Danielle. All medication left in the office will be disposed of per Wood County Policy at the end of the day on June 10th.
Parents: At this point, all student iPads should have been turned in to the school. If your child still has an iPad they need to return it, along with their charging components, to the main office.
As a reminder, last day for students is Monday, June 9.

Heavy rain and flooding are affecting student transportation. Our team is working on rerouting where possible. Expect delays for bus riders in flood-prone areas. Safety is Wood County Schools' first priority.
Wood County Schools Special Education Office will be destroying special education records of all former special education students with a graduation date prior to and including 2019. Files prior to 2018 have already been shredded. Attention Senior Parents...the awards assembly on May 21 and the senior parade on May 22 are both open for parents to attend. Due to seating limitations, we cannot open the awards assembly to the public, but parents are welcome to attend.

Middle school students will be taking the GSA test next week. They need to arrive at school by 8:00 with fully charged iPads. It is also a good idea to bring headphones that can be plugged in to their iPad.
Senior Parents:
Seniors will be collecting iPads and cleaning out lockers on Monday, May 19. Please make sure your senior is present.
Tuesday, seniors will be taking any make up exams that they have.
Wednesday will be the senior awards and then seniors will walk through WES. They will wear their cap and gown for both of these activities. Please make sure your senior arrives in the cafeteria by 8:15.
Thursday at 12:30 pm will be our first outside graduation practice, followed by the senior parade at 2:30.
