On Friday, February 27, 2026, at approximately 4:10 p.m., Wood County Schools received a report through its anonymous reporting system regarding a possible threat at Hamilton Middle School circulating on social media.
Wood County Schools Safety and Security Director immediately notified the Parkersburg Police Department, which promptly investigated the matter. Following their investigation, the Parkersburg Police Department has advised school officials that there is no credible threat at this time.
Wood County Schools takes all reports of potential threats seriously and works in close partnership with law enforcement to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff. While the situation has been thoroughly investigated and deemed not credible, the district will continue to monitor the situation and respond appropriately should additional information arise.
