Wood BOE meets Tuesday

PARKERSBURG - The Wood County Board of Education will meet Tuesday (August 24, 2021) in regular session to receive a presentation on state test scores.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the Wood County Schools Central Office at 1210 13th Street in Parkersburg, W.Va. The meeting is open to the public and will be broadcast online via Zoom.

The West Virginia Department of Education and West Virginia Board of Education last week released the fall General Summative Assessment scores. The GSA is taken annually by students in grades 3-8 to measure academic needs and progress.

Students in grade 11 are assessed through the SAT which is commonly used as a college entrance exam.

Superintendent Will Hosaflook will talk about the opening of the 2021-22 school year as part of his superintendent’s report.

In addition to approving personnel hires and changes, the board will consider approving an academic waiver for athletics and transfer of the former Williamstown Elementary School property to the City of Williamstown.
