Wood BOE meets Tuesday

 

PARKERSBURG - The Wood County Board of Education will meet Tuesday in regular session.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Kanawha Elementary School, 6465 Staunton Turnpike, Walker, WV. The meeting is open to the public and will be streamed online. 

 The meeting will begin with numerous recognitions, including Coca-Cola as an outstanding supporter of Wood County Schools.

Employee Chaz Dye will be recognized for his outstanding valor and exemplary vigilance to keep a Wood County Schools' student safe. Employees Robb Murray, Matthew Gates, Lester Morgan, Keith Tennant, Laura Thompson, Ryan Badgett, Regina Graham and 

Russell Deaton will be recognized as Wood County Schools Heroes for going above and beyond for the safety and well-being of others.

Superintendent Christie Willis will present aa transportation report to the board, and Principal Matt Null will give an academic report on Kanawha Elementary School.

There will be a presentation on attendance and chronic absenteeism by Attendance Director Chris Rutherford and Coordinator of Nursing Julie Bertram.

The board also will receive a video presentation on the state See Something Send Something app. 

The board will vote on the appointment of Tina Lowers as principal of Jefferson Elementary Center. Lowers is currently the principal at Van Devender Middle School.
