WCS to participate in Active Shooter Training Thursday

Wood County Schools, in cooperation with area law enforcement, will hold Active Shooter Training sessions at several schools tomorrow morning and afternoon.

Thursday, Dec. 22, is a professional learning day for employees. Students will not be in school. The active shooter drills will help law enforcement and school employees prepare for the possibility of an active shooter situation.

Drills will be held Thursday morning at Emerson Elementary and Martin Elementary schools, and at Parkersburg High School.

Drills will be held Thursday afternoon at Summit Success Academy in south Parkersburg.

Residents may see increased emergency or police activity around these schools Friday morning and Friday afternoon. Agencies and 911 responders have been made aware of the training sessions. Residents do not need to call 911 during these training sessions. If there are questions, contact Michael Erb, Wood County Schools Communications Coordinator, at 1-304-420-9670 x178  or by email at merb@woodcountyschoolswv.net.
