📚 Day 4 of the Wood County Schools Teaching & Learning Academy ✏️ Today’s keynote speaker was Natalie Wexler, author of The Knowledge Gap, who delivered a thought-provoking session on a critical aspect of the Science of Reading. Her session challenged us to rethink how we teach reading comprehension and writing by building knowledge through rich content and meaningful writing. 🧠📖 Participants also continued exploring sessions on small group instruction, mathematics instruction, writing strategies, classroom management, tech integration, and more. #WCSLearns

📚 Day 3 of the Wood County Schools Teaching & Learning Academy 💡 Today’s keynote was led by Sasha Long, BCBA and founder of The Autism Helper, Inc. Attendees walked away with practical de-escalation strategies and a deeper understanding of how to support students while preserving trust and connection. 💬🧠 In addition to the keynote, educators, administrators, and aides participated in a wide range of engaging sessions focused on: ✔️ Small group differentiation ✔️ Hands-on grammar and vocabulary instruction ✔️ Self-regulation strategies ✔️ Digital literacy tools …and so much more! #WCSLearns

Students of Van Devender who bought a yearbook for the 2024–2025 school year can now pick it up at the school they’ll be attending in August: Hamilton Middle, Jackson Middle, or Parkersburg High.

The day began with a keynote session led by Dr. Kerry Magro. Dr. Magro shared practical, research-based strategies like Universal Design for Learning, adaptive teaching methods, and sensory-friendly tools to help us better support all students in the classroom. #WCSLearns💡💙
